Its about one of our client in Abu Dhabi city, we have exported 1 Ton Hot rolled bar to them in Oct, 2014, just before Diwali (India’s main Hindu festival) along with Mill certificate & third party documents, but the project chief engineer required 1 ton more Cold drawn bar on urgent basis, in our factory 99% workers & staff gone for Diwali vacation, even i was also out of town to celebrate Diwali, but when our client’s requested me that its a emergency so i immediately took a flight on the auspicious day of Diwali morning & arranged to export the material on the same day, & then i went back & celebrated Diwali at my home happily. Why use 904L Stainless Steel Bar
- Austenitic stainless steels are extensively used for service down to as low as liquid helium temperature (-269 deg C). This is largely due to the lack of a clearly defined transition from ductile to brittle fracture in impact toughness testing.
- Various types of stainless steel are used across the whole temperature range from ambient to 1100 deg C.
- The ferritic types may be limited, in practice, to lower temperatures as they have lower strengths at elevated temperatures than the austenitic types. The ferritic types can also suffer from embrittlement with extended exposure to temperatures above about 450°C.

Background
904L, a stainless steel with slightly higher nickel and chromium content. 904L is also resistant to chloride, a potential cause for pitting and corrosion. 904L is more expensive due to the high price of nickel. 904L is a unstable austenitic stainless steel, due the higher chromium content. Isn’t harder than 316L but it resist better sea water corrosion.
This grade is non-magnetic in all conditions and has excellent weldability and formability. The austenitic structure also gives this grade excellent toughness, even down to cryogenic temperatures.
